Belarus, Azerbaijan discuss security cooperation prospects

BAKU, 15 August (BelTA) – Chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus Valery Vakulchik and National Security Minister of Azerbaijan Eldar Makhmudov met on 14 August to discuss prospects for cooperation development, Azer-TAc learnt from the PR Center of the National Security Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The parties considered various threats of the transnational organized crime, which has largely spread in the recent years and continues looming in the form of terrorism, extremism, illegal drugs sales as well as migration processes and problems caused by them. The sides also discussed prospects for developing cooperation between the special services of the two countries.

Eldar Makhmudov told his Belarusian counterpart about the present operational situation and security measures. Valery Vakulchik expressed gratitude for hospitality and noted that the relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan have been successfully developing. In his words, the current visit will add a new impetus to further strengthening of the bilateral relations.
