Iran seeks to increase export to Belarus

MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – Iran would like to expand commodity export to Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Mohammad Reza Sabouri told a press conference in Minsk on 5 February, BelTA has learnt.

In 2012 the bilateral trade stood at $140 million, of which $130 million were Belarusian exports. Iran is determined to increase the export of domestic products to the Belarusian market and has already drafted the necessary export promotion programs and projects.

The diplomat noted that at present Iranian companies are implementing a series of projects in Belarus that need to be successfully completed. In particular, Iranian companies are building hotels, a logistics center and homes. “These are very big projects, each of them is estimated at over €100 million,” the ambassador said. He noted that Iranians are now focused on finishing the running projects, not on starting new ones.
