BPC signs contract on MOP delivery to China in H1 2013

MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) concluded a contract with China’s largest importers of mineral fertilizers Sinochem and CNAMPGC on the supplies of muriate of potash (MOP) in H1 2013, BelTA learnt from spokesman for the company Filipp Gritskov.

According to the contract, the price will make up $400 per tonne of potassium chloride. The contact has been signed on the delivery of 700,000 tonnes and 300,000 tonnes of optional quantities. The contract period is from 15 January 2013 to 30 June 2013.

“The agreement between the largest producers of potash fertilizers and Chinese importers is traditionally taken as the main price point in the sector. The near-term outlook is positive. The sector will be gradually recovering, consumption volumes will be increasing,” Director General of the Belarusian Potash Company Valery Ivanov commented on the new contract.

Founded in 2005, the Belarusian Potash Company is an exclusive supplier of potash fertilizers produced by Belaruskali and the Russia’s Uralkali to the international market. The BPC shareholders is Belaruskali (45%), Uralkali (50%), and the Belarusian Railways (5%). The company accounts for 43% of the world market of potash fertilizers and sells its products to Europe, India, China, Central and South America, the USA, the Pacific region, Africa and Middle East.
