Tozik: Belarus happy with progress in joint projects with China

MINSK, 10 January (BelTA) – Belarus praises the level of the implementation of joint projects with China, Belarus Vice Premier Anatoly Tozik said as he met with the Chinese delegation led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Gong Jianwei on 9 January, BelTA has learnt.

The talks preceded the ceremony of signing an intergovernmental Belarusian-Chinese agreement on technical and economic cooperation. Under the agreement Belarus will receive a $16 million grant (100 million yuans) for Chernobyl projects.

Anatoly Tozik stressed that the agreements the countries conclude should benefit people. According to the Vice Premier, Belarus and China are implementing large-scale projects. “They are quite successful,” Anatoly Tozik believes.

The Belarusian official named the construction of the Peking Hotel among the most important projects. Anatoly Tozik is supervising the implementation of the project. “The construction works are of high quality and performed according to the schedule,” the Vice Premier said. He also turned the attention of the Chinese delegation to another large-scale project which is being implemented in Belarus – the China-Belarus Industrial Park.

In turn, the Chinese Ambassador praised the results of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in 2012. With this, according to him, China puts high hopes on further development of all-round relations with Belarus.

The diplomat added that China attaches great attention to the China-Belarus Industrial Park project. Heads of several Chinese provinces have already voiced their intention to work in this park. The Chinese Ambassador also pointed to China’s interest in Belarus’ participation in international expositions the People’s Republic of China is going to host this year.
