Belarusian kids hurt in bus crash in Ukraine

MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – A bus carrying Belarusian children got into a traffic accident near the village of Volya Lyubitovskaya, Kovel District, Volyn Oblast, Ukraine. So far seven dead have been reported, including one child, who is a citizen of Belarus born in 2000, representatives of the Volyn Oblast Traffic Police Department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry told BelTA.

The traffic accident occurred at the 93rd kilometer of the Domanovo-Kovel motorway at about 7:40. According to the source, the Bulgarian-registration bus carrying Belarusian kids for recreation in Bulgaria collided with a Ukrainian regular route bus. According to preliminary data, seven people have died, including one Belarusian child born in 2000. At least 20 people have been delivered to hospital, many of them in a serious condition. Traffic police inspectors are working on site, circumstances of the accident are being looked into, said the Volyn Oblast Traffic Police Department.

Representatives of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry added that according to provisional data the coach was carrying about 50 people, children, citizens of Belarus. The source confirmed that several deaths had been reported. “The bus is Bulgarian, it was driven by citizens of Bulgaria. Those hurt in the traffic accident have been rushed to central hospitals of Lutsk and Kovel. According to Ukrainian side data, all the injured are receiving the necessary medical aid,” said the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. BelTA has been told that the Consular Affairs Office of the Embassy of Belarus in Ukraine had dispatched personnel to work on site. They will track the situation and will provide the necessary aid to the victims.
