Belarus attends OSCE PA session in Istanbul

MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – The 22nd annual session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) that opened in Istanbul on 29 June is attended by Belarus’ parliamentary delegation led by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Viktor Guminsky, BelTA learnt from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The Belarusian delegation comprises Chairman of the Council of the Republic’s permanent commission on international affairs and national security Vladimir Senko and member of the House of Representatives’ permanent commission on international affairs Valentina Leonenko.

The annual session opened with a meeting of the Permanent Committee. OSCE PA President Wolfgang Grossruck (Austria) addressed the participants of the meeting with an opening speech. Among the speakers was also Treasurer Roberto Battelli (Slovenia) who presented information on the current financial status and the budget of the Assembly for the 2013-2014 fiscal year.

OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara and OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier spoke at the first plenary session.

“On the ongoing annual session MPs of the OSCE member states are working hard on the draft resolutions regarding various important issues of the current international agenda,” the press service added.
