Belarus attends special session of UNCTAD Trade and Development Board in Geneva

MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – Belarus attended the 27th special session of the Trade and Development Board (TDB) of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, BelTA learned from the press service of the Foreign Ministry.

The event was attended by members of the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the international organizations in Geneva. During the session the Board endorsed Peru as the venue for the fourteenth United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD XIV) to be held in 2016. The conference is convened every four years to work out the mandate for the coming four-year period

During the preparatory period leading up to the conference, the member states will analyze the role of UNCTAD in promoting trade and development, consider the progress in meeting the Millennium Development Goals proclaimed by the United Nations, in accordance with the previously agreed UNCTAD mandates.

Belarus is in the regional group which unites the countries with economies in transition and participates in this effort by making and defending proposals that serve the interests of the country.
