Belarus to partake in 128th Interparliamentary Union assembly in Ecuador

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian MPs will take part in the 128th assembly of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU) that will be held in Quito, Ecuador, from 22 to 27 March, BelTA learnt from Chairman of the Permanent Commission for International Affairs of the House of Representatives of Belarus Nikolai Samoseiko.

The Belarusian delegation will include Nikolai Samoseiko and Deputy Chairman of the Permanent Commission for Chernobyl Problems, Ecology and Nature Management of the House of Representatives Alla Naumchik.

The Belarusian MPs are set to meet with their counterparts from several countries. “The meetings with MPs from Laos and Syria have been confirmed. Work is underway to organize the same meetings with MPs from Ecuador, Bolivia, Cuba and Venezuela,” Nikolai Samoseiko noted. He continued by saying that earlier the Eurasia geopolitical group worked as part of the IPU and Belarus would like to revive its activities. The Belarusian delegation will also take part in a plenary meeting and a session of the permanent committees.

As Deputy Chairman of the Belarus-Russia Union State Parliamentary Assembly, Nikolai Samoseiko will take part in the assembly as the head of the delegation of this union’s parliamentary body. Nikolai Samoseiko will be joined by Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State Nikolai Bortsov, who is the MP of the Russian State Duma. The IPU assembly is held biannually, with one meeting usually held in Europe and the other in Africa or Latin America.
