Mozyrskoye, Pribugskoye underground gas storage facilities to be enlarged

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – The Mozyrskoye and Pribugskoye underground gas storage facilities will be enlarged in 2013-2020 as stipulated in decree No. 228 of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 20 May 2013. The document was published on the national legal Internet portal on 22 May, BelTA has learned.

The document aims to ensure Belarus’ energy security and promote the development of underground gas storage on the territory of the country. The decree touches upon certain aspects of the construction of the Mozyrskoye and Pribugskoye underground gas storage facilities.

In line with the decree, in 2013-2020 there are plans to build and put into operation the third and fourth lines of the Mozyrskoye underground gas storage facility in Gomel Oblast and the fifth line of the Pribugskoye gas storage facility in Brest Oblast.

OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus is the customer of the project.

OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus allows renting the land plots for building underground storage facilities without an auction for the right to sign a lease agreement with the collection of payments determined in line with the legislation.

The Council of Ministers of Belarus will supervise the implementation of the decree.

OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus operates three underground gas storage facilities: Osipovichskoye, Pribugskoye and Mozyrskoye. The total active volume of stored gas in these facilities is close to 1 billion cubic meters. By 2020 the aggregate capacity of these facilities is expected to reach 2 billion cubic meters.
