MAZ to ship 60 vehicles to Equatorial Guinea

MINSK, 8 May (BelTA) – Minsk Autoworks (MAZ trademark) will supply 60 vehicles to Equatorial Guinea, BelTA learnt from MAZ - Management Company of the BelavtoMAZ holding company.

The supply agreement was reached at the meeting with the Deputy Defense Minister of Equatorial Guinea held at the MAZ headquarters. “The parties agreed on the supply of 60 pieces of vehicle equipment to this Central African country. The supply contract is being prepared. In the autumn MAZ vehicles will be delivered to Equatorial Guinea,” MAZ informed.

The company has recently hosted many foreign visitors interested in Belarusian machines. Those were ambassadors of a number of countries of Africa and Latin America, representatives of diplomatic missions of Mexico, Peru, Nigeria, Guatemala, Chile, Angola, Guinea-Bissau and other states. They visited the exhibition of MAZ vehicles and the major assembly conveyor of the company.

A delegation from Slovakia came to Minsk to discuss cooperation prospects between vehicle and machine producers of Belarus and Slovakia. Representatives of the Ukrainian company GazDneprAvto and a delegation from Saint Petersburg also toured the company. The both visits were aimed at boosting cooperation with MAZ.

In 2013 the BelavtoMAZ holding company plans to explore new sales markets, including Bangladesh, Ecuador, Mozambique, Guinea, Nigeria, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. New MAZ assembly factories are to open in Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Vietnam, Iran and Europe.

To increase exports to Russia, MAZ is working to expand its commodity distribution network in 14 regions of Russia. MAZ needs dealers in Amur Oblast, Astrakhan Oblast, the Zabaykalsky Krai, Khakassia, and other regions.

Minsk Automobile Plant was founded in 1944. In 2009 it was reincorporated into the public joint-stock company OAO MAZ. In 2012 OAO MAZ became the management company of the holding company BelavtoMAZ. The company makes truck tractors, high-sided trucks, medium-capacity automobiles, dump trucks, log trucks, short log trucks, cross-country vehicles, automobiles fit for special equipment as well as buses and trolleybuses. MAZ offers over 500 models and modifications of freight vehicles and about 20 models of passenger vehicles.
