Belarus to develop new oilfield in Svetlogorsk District

MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – There are plans to develop a new oilfield in Svetlogorsk District, Belarus, BelTA learnt from Head of the Raw Hydrocarbon Deposits Department of the National Research and Development Center of Geology Yaroslav Gribik.

The discovery of a new oil pool at Prokhorovka oilfield has created favorable conditions for putting the oilfield, which has been in conservation, online.

According to Yaroslav Gribik, it is necessary to make sure that there are enough reserves for commercial production before launching the field development.

In his words, the discovered oil pool, the third one at the deposit, is 2,910-2,915m deep and will provide for a commercial oil flow of 5 cubic meters per day and higher. “The oil is of good quality. Its density makes up 0.91 grams per cubic centimeter with high gas content,” Yaroslav Gribik added.

With a new oil pool the Prokhorovka reserves are estimated at 350,000-400,000 tonnes of oil.
