Construction of air traffic control center to begin in Minsk District in 2014

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – The construction of an air traffic control center will begin near the town of Sokol, Minsk District in 2014, BelTA learned from Alexander Dosta, First Deputy Director General of the Belarusian air navigation service provider Belaeronavigatsia, on 30 October.

The design documents for the project are being worked out. “All the primary services that handle air traffic in Belarus are located in the National Airport Minsk, which is contrary to the international practice. As a rule, air traffic control centers are located separately due to a number of reasons,” noted Alexander Dosta.

The navigation equipment used to handle air traffic will be modernized and replaced.

Belaeronavigatsia will spend $10-12 million in proprietary funds on the project.

The Belarusian air navigation service provider RUP Belaeronavigatsia was founded in 1996. The enterprise is in charge of air traffic control using automated solutions. The enterprise works to improve the usage of air space and ensure the economizing, regular and safe passage of aircraft in addition to providing air navigation information.
