Heads of CIS financial watchdogs to discuss anti-corruption efforts in Minsk

MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) – A session of the Coordination Council of Heads of Tax (Financial) Investigation Agencies of the CIS member states will be held at the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk on 19-20 September, BelTA learnt from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

Over a dozen matters is included in the agenda. The participants of the session will discuss ways to improve interaction between tax investigation agencies in combating corruption, sham business, criminal bankruptcy, crime in the credit and financial field. They will also discuss coordination of efforts with other related agencies of the CIS member states in the field of tax-related crimes.

The participants of the session will also discuss prevention of criminal schemes used to create overdue accounts receivable and prevention of crimes related to settlement payments with foreign companies.

The heads of tax (financial) investigation agencies will review their efforts to implement the interstate program of joint efforts to combat crime in 2011-2013, and discuss the implementation of a similar program set to run in 2014-2018.

The members of the Coordination Council of Heads of Tax (Financial) Investigation Agencies of the CIS member states are set to elect a new chairman and co-chairmen.

The Coordination Council of Heads of Tax (Financial) Investigation Agencies of the CIS member states was set up in 2000 to coordinate efforts to combat tax-related crimes. The major objectives of the Council are exchanging information, working out recommendations and suggestions on detecting, preventing and combating tax-related crimes. The Council also helps to optimize and harmonize the national legislations of the Commonwealth member states and improve the legal and treaty basis of international cooperation.
