Vehicles from Ukraine's Donetsk and Lugansk Oblasts exempt from road tolls in Belarus

MINSK (BelTA) – On 10 August 10 the President of the Republic of Belarus signed Decree No. 349 to adjust the operation of the toll road system in Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the head of state.

According to the decree, new or imported vehicles that have the technically permissible total weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes and have not been previously registered in Belarus are exempt from tolls for 10 days from the date of entry (acquisition) on their way to state registration.

The vehicles registered in Donetsk and Lugansk Oblasts, with the technically permissible total weight of not more than 3.5 tonnes and their trailers, are exempt from paying tolls on toll roads.

In order to secure the collection of increased toll payments the Transport Inspectorate of the Ministry of Transport and Communications has been entitled to request corresponding information about the accounts of transport vehicle owners or lessees from the Taxes and Duties Ministry and the Interior Ministry.

The decree also introduces amendments to the Traffic Rules which stipulate the need to equip driving school cars with dashboard cameras on driving tests.
