CIS heads of government meet in Kazakhstan

ASTANA (BelTA) – A regular meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council has taken place in Burabay, Kazakhstan, BelTA has learned.

The agenda included a wide range of issues related to integration cooperation in the CIS. The participants of the meeting adopted a joint action plan in the financial and economic field, confirmed a transport security strategy for international forwarding. The heads of government approved the action plan for 2015-2016 as part of the CIS interstate innovation cooperation program through 2020 and the draft concept on CIS interregional and border cooperation through 2020 and the action plan on its implementation.

Apart from that, the session approved the draft concept to set up and develop an interstate system for training, retraining and enhancing the qualifications of personnel in the sphere of intellectual property, and the main areas in developing a united system of control and assessment of the radiation, chemical and biological situation of the CIS Defense Ministries through 2020.

The heads of government signed an agreement on mutual recognition of test results in metrological certification and an agreement on enhancing qualifications of teachers in the CIS institutions of general education.

The CIS Heads of Government Council appointed Major General Oleg Zemskov (Belarus) as deputy head of the CIS Antiterrorist Center.

“The CIS will mark its 25th anniversary soon. Despite the fact that some things did not work, the Commonwealth of Independent States has been developing and is one of the most important forms of cooperation between the states in the post-Soviet space. Russia will support the CIS as an institute, as a format for cooperation with our partners, support the issues that have been tabled today,” Russian Premier Dmitry Medvedev said.

The next CIS Heads of Government will take place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan in October 2015.
