Call to unite efforts for safer internet in Belarus

MINSK (BelTA) – Information industry professionals should unite efforts to ensure security in the internet, Belarus Information Minister Lilia Ananich said at the conference “Mass media in the changing world: professionalism and responsibility” on 3 May, BelTA has learned.

Lilia Ananich is in favor of introducing mechanisms of self-regulation on the internet. She stressed that everyone would like to have a safe internet for children and the society in general. “In this context all the information industry professionals should unite their efforts, for instance, in the public-private partnership format,” the minister said.

Lilia Ananich believes that internet providers and owners of internet resources can take part in such projects, alongside with art unions and mass media editorial offices, Lilia Ananich said.

The conference is running in Minsk as part of the 21st international exhibition Mass Media in Belarus.
