Draft law on transportation of dangerous goods submitted to Belarusian parliament

BelTA) – The government has submitted the draft law “On Amendments to Laws Concerning the Transportation of Dangerous Goods” to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.
The draft law, in particular, provides for clarification of the scope of the law “On the Transportation of Dangerous Goods”, the list of government bodies and organizations carrying out state regulation in this area, as well as the subjects and objects involved in dangerous goods transportation.
It is proposed to expand the powers of the government in dangerous goods transportation and to clarify the powers of government bodies responsible for state regulation in this area. Provisions are also established to ensure the safe transportation of dangerous goods by civil aircraft.
The draft law also includes provisions concerning mandatory inspections of tanks, fixed tanks (cargo tanks), and other equipment used for transporting dangerous goods to assess their safety. The procedure for tracking (monitoring) vehicles transporting high-risk cargo is also defined.
The House of Representatives’ Standing Committee on Industry, Energy, Transport, Communications, and Digital Development has been designated as the lead committee for this draft law.
