24.03.2026
MINSK (
BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed decree No.100 on in vitro fertilization on 23 March. The document was passed in furtherance of the existing state program on state support for in vitro fertilization and provides for making assisted reproductive technologies more affordable for women willing to become mothers, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.
Thanks to the existing IVF program as many as 2,528 kids have been born in Belarus. The figure proves the program’s effectiveness and the demand for it. The state has allocated about Br28 million for these goals.
The decree authorizes offering two free IVF attempts instead of one. They will be available not only to married women but single ones as well. The two attempts will be available if several conditions are met. In particular, the woman’s age cannot exceed 40 years and there are medical grounds in favor of in vitro fertilization and no counterindications.
If the first free IVF attempt was a success and the pregnancy resulted in the birth of a child, the woman is eligible for the second IVF attempt covered by the state budget up to the age of 49 years.
As before, in vitro fertilization procedures will be performed by state-run healthcare institutions listed by the Council of Ministers.
The main provisions of the decree will come into force three months after the official publication.
The document’s adoption will allow enhancing the state social support for Belarusian women, giving them additional opportunities in the field of protection of reproductive health.
