Bill on Council of Ministers passes first reading

BelTA) – The draft law “On amending the law of the Republic of Belarus ‘On the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus’” has passed the first reading, BelTA has learned.
According to the Commission on State Building, Local Self-Government, and Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives, the draft law was developed to comprehensively improve management mechanisms within the executive branch system.
In particular, the draft law provides for formalizing the government’s status as a superior state body in the course of providing guidance to the republican government bodies and other organizations subordinate to it.
The powers of deputy prime ministers are being expanded, and legal mechanisms for interaction between the Council of Ministers and the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the National Bank, and other state bodies are being improved.
The powers of the Council of Ministers in the field of labor are being clarified, and the institution of representation of the Council of Ministers in state bodies is being expanded.
