MINSK ( BelTA) – Belarus and Ghana have concluded an agreement to establish a joint committee on trade and economic cooperation. The relevant document was signed in the presence of the leaders of the two countries, Aleksandr Lukashenko and John Dramani Mahama, following the official talks held in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The committee shall coordinate the efforts of both sides to expand trade ties and economic cooperation. “I propose holding the first meeting of the committee without delay in order to implement all the agreements reached during your visit. We must have a concrete joint action plan for the development of trade between our countries,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said during the talks.

Belarus and Ghana also concluded an intergovernmental agreement on visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic and service passports.

The appropriate ministries of the two countries signed a memorandum on cooperation in agriculture.

Furthermore, a cooperation agreement was concluded between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Characterizing these documents following the talks, Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama emphasized that these are “not just diplomatic achievements.” “They create a practical foundation for cooperation between the private sector and government agencies, so that they can work more effectively together. These documents make it possible to remove barriers to communication between countries and create new opportunities for economic growth and technological development,” he stressed.
