Belarus’ FM reveals details of negotiations with Mozambique’s leadership

BelTA) – The first-ever official visit of Mozambique’s president to Belarus will give a powerful boost to the development of relations between the two countries in various areas, Belarusian Foreign Affairs Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov told journalists following negotiations with President Daniel Chapo of Mozambique in Maputo, BelTA has learned.
Maxim Ryzhenkov emphasized that a message from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko was delivered to the president of Mozambique, inviting him to visit Belarus on an official visit. Daniel Chapo, in turn, expressed his readiness to make this visit and asked to convey warm wishes to the Belarusian leader.
“I am confident that the first official visit of the Mozambican president to Belarus in history will give a powerful impetus to the development of relations between the two states in various areas,” the minister said.
According to him, in his message the president of Belarus also outlined promising areas of cooperation with Mozambique. “And we are very pleased that all these areas align with the vision of Mozambique’s leadership for the development of their country,” Maxim Ryzhenkov stressed.
Speaking about the negotiations with Mozambique’s leadership, the minister noted that the key topics discussed were agricultural mechanization, food security and overall security, industrial cooperation, and ensuring Mozambique’s industrial sovereignty. The Belarusian side is interested in using the port infrastructure of this country and, with its help, promoting its products to other states in the region.
“Our country is ready to work together with Mozambique in the extraction and processing of mineral resources, taking into account the experience Belarus has today, including the production of complex fertilizers and the transfer of competencies for deeper gas processing in Mozambique,” Maxim Ryzhenkov said.
All issues of bilateral cooperation will be reviewed at the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, whose meeting will be organized in the near future.
“We also agreed to finalize a number of agreements for their signing in the very near future,” the minister added.
