Lukashenko receives report from Vitebsk Oblast governor

BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko received a report from Vitebsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Rogozhnik on 28 July, BelTA has learned.
The discussion focused on the situation in Vitebsk Oblast, including the state of agriculture in the region. The head of state asked how events were unfolding and inquired about any problematic issues. The topic of employing citizens from Uzbekistan in the region was also addressed separately.
“The front line, fortunately, a peaceful one, now runs through Vitebsk Oblast. You can see the weather and everything else… And you yourself have ended up in the thick of it,” the head of state said.
“What is the situation in Vitebsk Oblast? How are events unfolding, what problems are there?” Aleksandr Lukashenko outlined the key range of questions.
The president also asked about the citizens of Uzbekistan who arrived in Belarus to work in the agro-industrial sector of Vitebsk Oblast. “Including the Uzbeks. Because they came to you first of all. But remember one thing: milk and meat come first. If there aren’t enough people, fine, let them work. Their salary is the third issue,” the head of state noted.
Cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan in this area is based on mutual interest, Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized. This was discussed during the recent talks between the leaders of the two countries. Belarus, as a state with a developed agro-industrial complex, a large volume of food production, and sufficient land for agriculture, is ready to cooperate with Uzbekistan to help supply the country’s market with food products.
“They asked for products. We are interested in this. They are keen to invest in agriculture. Because how can you do without investments? Without dairy complexes and tractors, you won’t get meat or milk. We are prepared to produce what is needed here. And not only in Vitebsk Oblast. We also need people in Mogilev Oblast, Gomel Oblast, and Grodno Oblast. But in a targeted way,” the Belarusian leader pointed out.
