EAEU heads of government sign cooperation documents in Cholpon-Ata

BelTA) – The heads of government of the EAEU countries signed a number of cooperation documents following a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan on 7 August, BelTA has learned.
Among the documents signed was an agreement on electronic trade in goods within the EAEU. The document is aimed at facilitating mutual electronic trade within the EAEU internal market, protecting the rights and legitimate interests of participants, and establishing rules for interaction between them.
Also on the list is an agreement on the admission of brokers and dealers from one EAEU member state to participate in organized trading on exchanges (trading organizers) of other member states. The agreement will help establish a mechanism for mutual recognition of licenses, allowing national exchanges to recognize licenses issued by authorized bodies of member states and enabling their holders to participate directly in organized trading for the purchase and sale of securities and derivative financial instruments.
In addition, an agreement was signed on the mutual recognition of academic titles in the EAEU member states. Recognition is provided within the framework of labor migration, allowing holders of academic titles to pursue professional activities in the host state in accordance with their titles.
The next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 1–2 October 2026 to coincide with the INNOPROM. Belarus exhibition.
The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council members heard reports from the Eurasian Economic Commission on the implementation of common principles and approaches to ensuring food security in the member states, on the progress of forming common oil and petroleum product markets in 2025, and a monitoring report on regulatory impact assessments for draft EEC decisions and draft international treaties within the EAEU. They also discussed the development of trade and economic cooperation with the Union’s major trading partners.
Special attention was given to expanding the list of goods imported into the EAEU customs territory subject to permanent traceability, the implementation of the 2025 priority action plan for digitizing rail freight transport in the EAEU, and the implementation of common approaches to cooperation among EAEU countries on the climate agenda. The EEC’s annual report on the state of competition in cross-border markets and measures taken to curb violations of common competition rules in 2025 was also reviewed.
In addition, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin held a brief working meeting in Cholpon-Ata with Russia’s First Deputy Minister of Energy Pavel Sorokin. The parties discussed current strategic issues of Belarusian-Russian cooperation and the development of energy markets.
