Belarus approves draft agreement with Russia defining rules for Union State electricity market

BelTA) – The Council of Ministers has approved a draft agreement between the Energy Ministries of Belarus and Russia defining the rules for the operation of the Union State common electricity market as a basis for negotiations. The relevant resolution was signed by Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin on 10 August, BelTA learned from the government’s press service.
The resolution was drafted to implement law No. 114-Z “On ratification of the treaty between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on setting up the common market of electricity of the Union State of Belarus and Russia” of 9 December 2025. Under the law, the Energy Ministry and the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) are vested with the authority to operate the common electricity market.
The Energy Ministry has been authorized to sign the rules governing the operation of the Union State common electricity market.
