Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lukashevich stressed that the business forum is a foundation for further advancing trade and economic relations with Myanmar. “Today marks the start of the official visit of a great friend of Belarus - the president of Myanmar. This is another stage in our bilateral relations. We are beginning it with a business forum. A meeting at the prime ministerial level has already taken place. Undoubtedly, the economic component of our agreements will be elevated to a new level. Myanmar is receiving increased attention in terms of our economic interests, we are already implementing several projects involving MAZ, MTZ, light industry, and dairy farms,” he said.

Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mikhail Myatlikov noted that the strong interest in establishing mutually beneficial cooperation with Myanmar is confirmed by the broad participation of Belarusian businesses in the forum - companies representing various sectors of the economy: mechanical engineering, woodworking, construction, food, light and chemical industries, finance, education, and tourism. “A large delegation from Myanmar has arrived. B2B negotiations, presentations, and a signing ceremony for previously prepared contracts have taken place. This is the fourth forum we have held with our partners from the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry over the past two years - two in Yangon and two in Minsk. I should add that our economies do not overlap. We are not competitors and can complement each other. I believe that the contacts established today will yield new results in the near future and boost our trade,” he said.
