Lukashenko approves draft protocol amending SCO Charter

BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 296 on 27 August approving a draft protocol on amendments and additions to the Charter of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) of 7 June 2002 as a basis for negotiations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The document was drafted to update the SCO Charter, bring it into line with the international legal framework, and established practice.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been authorized to conduct negotiations on the draft international treaty.
