Implementation of Belarus-Uzbekistan projects discussed in Council of Republic

BelTA) – Matters of implementing Belarusian-Uzbek projects were discussed in the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
A meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus Nuriddin Mamajonov took place in the Council of the Republic. Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova noted that Belarus and Uzbekistan share warm, friendly relations. “We actively cooperate at international venues and support each other, which is very important in modern conditions,” Natalya Kochanova emphasized.
The speaker of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament pointed out that cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan develops in economy, education, healthcare, youth policy, historical policy, and many other fields. The senator also recalled that a declaration on establishing a strategic partnership between the countries was signed during the visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus on 8–9 July. Apart from that, the states intend to increase trade turnover to $2 billion by 2030. “We have to do everything to achieve this goal and implement other agreements,” Natalya Kochanova stressed.
Nuriddin Mamajonov pointed out that relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan are at the highest level. “Today we have many promising areas for cooperation. Trade, first and foremost. I am confident that we will not wait until 2030 to reach the targeted level of trade turnover. We will fulfill this task in a year and a half at most. Interregional cooperation also actively develops today. Schedules for visits by the heads of regions of the two countries have been determined. By the end of October, practically all regions of Uzbekistan are supposed to visit Belarus and work out new projects for the sake of developing industrial cooperation,” the ambassador said.
At today’s meeting the parties discussed in detail the possibilities for further expanding Belarusian-Uzbek relations. “We touched upon practically all spheres of cooperation. For instance, we discussed holding a Belarusian-Uzbek interparliamentary forum in the city of Khiva on 29–30 September this year. We also talked about projects in the regions, for example, in Vitebsk Oblast and Gomel Oblast, involving enterprises of the two countries. I am confident that our meeting today will give a new impetus to the development of Belarusian-Uzbek relations,” the diplomat summarized.
