Kochanova: Belarusian, Algerian partners sign contracts worth $18m

BelTA) – Belarusian and Algerian partners have signed contracts worth $18 million, which will be implemented in the near future, the Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova, said after a meeting with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic.
Natalya Kochanova noted that the program of the Belarusian delegation’s visit to Algeria was very intensive. It focused on the direct development and practical implementation of the agreements reached during Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s official visit to Algeria in December 2025.
She stressed that the decisions made by the head of state, the joint statement on friendship and partnership, and the intergovernmental roadmap for 2026–2027 that was signed laid a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation.
“In December 2025, president of our country, Aleksandr Lukashenko, paid an official visit to Algeria, where serious agreements were reached at the highest level. Our main task today is to align our approaches and accelerate as much as possible the implementation of the roadmap for trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation in industry, agriculture, healthcare, and education,” Natalya Kochanova said.
Natalya Kochanova emphasized that the program of the Belarusian delegation’s visit was very intensive. Describing the progress of joint projects, she noted that the Algerian side was demonstrating its full readiness to work across all key areas of expertise of Belarus’ industrial sector.
Natalya Kochanova assured that the agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries were being translated into concrete financial results. “If we talk about the outcomes of this visit, we have already signed contracts worth $18 million, which we will implement in the very near future. We are fully ready to cooperate in all areas, but above all we must effectively and promptly deliver on the strategic vector set by the presidents of our states,” she said. “This was also mentioned by the president of Algeria, who noted that our countries have many things in common today. We are ready to support each other and cooperate. We also look forward to a reciprocal visit by the president of Algeria. He once again clearly outlined all areas of our cooperation and is deeply involved in every sector. Of course, we will do everything to ensure that this is implemented effectively,” she said.
Natalya Kochanova also described the meeting with her colleagues from the Council of the Nation as fruitful, noting that she had an in-depth discussion with its President Azouz Nasri. “It is very important for us that we cooperate at international platforms as well, where we support each other on key issues. This primarily includes preserving peace, the sovereignty and independence of our countries, among other things. We have complete mutual understanding and have developed good, friendly relations. Algeria is a country with wonderful traditions and history,” Natalya Kochanova stressed, adding that the immediate plans include signing a memorandum of cooperation between the Belarusian and Algerian chambers of parliament.
“We are grateful to the president of Algeria and our colleagues for the warm and cordial welcome extended to us during the visit,” she concluded.
