Belarusian People’s Congress to review first results of 2026–2030 development program

BelTA) – The first results of implementing Belarus’ social and economic development program for 2026–2030 will be presented at the third session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress, Head of the Secretariat of the Belarusian People’s Congress Valery Mitskevich told the media following a meeting of the organizing committee for the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on 22 September, BelTA has learned.
The third session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress will take place in Minsk on 17–18 December 2026. This is set out in an order signed by Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress Aleksandr Lukashenko. This year is a landmark year for the Belarusian People’s Congress as it marks 30 years since its first gathering, which was held in October 1996.
“In accordance with the Constitution, the Belarusian People’s Congress will consider all matters within its competence. This will be another working meeting. In 2025, at the previous session, Belarus’ social and economic development program for 2026–2030 was approved. Now, in accordance with the law, the government will report on the progress made in implementing this program. But, of course, we will also take into account the fact that 30 years have passed, during which there have been many achievements and development results. There will certainly be some ceremonial elements to mark the 30th anniversary,” Valery Mitskevich said.
Belarus has established a commemorative medal marking the 30th anniversary of the, titled “Thirty Years of the Belarusian People’s Congress.” “Some will also be introduced in light of the decision taken. We are currently preparing the material base, producing the medals and drafting the decision on the awards,” he added.
Asked whether an exhibition of Belarus’ achievements would be timed to coincide with the session of the Belarusian People’s Congress, he said the matter is under discussion. “It is possible that the exhibition will not be held at a separate venue but as part of the congress. We have many achievements over the past 30 years. And since the Belarusian People’s Congress became a constitutional body, we certainly have achievements and decisions to show. But again, we are in the process of preparing,” Valery Mitskevich said.
