MINSK ( BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are set to develop a mechanism for subsidizing Union State goods, Ella Selitskaya, Deputy State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia said at a meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council under the Standing Committee of the Union State on 2 October, BelTA has learned.

“On 1 October, at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, we discussed trade and economic cooperation, the implementation of the measures of the Union State Treaty for 2024–2026, and set objectives for the next three years. These topics are also under discussion at the meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council,” Ella Selitskaya said.

The promotion of the Union State product brand tops the agenda. According to Ella Selitskaya, a regulatory framework and a product register have already been established. The register is already available to businesses in Belarus and Russia and features about 15 items, including MAZ buses and BelAZ mining dump trucks. “We are working with Belarusian manufacturers to expand the register. It is important that our citizens know that high-quality and competitive goods are manufactured in the Union State of Belarus and Russia,” she explained.

One of the main tasks is to protect the Union State market. To that end, we have established a Belarus-Russia Union State Standardization and Quality Committee. Work is also proceeding on the preparation of proposals for supporting production and on the drafting of a provision on the procedure for subsidizing Union State goods. “Our task is to ensure that manufacturers can sell their goods, including exporting them to third-country markets,” she added.

Ella Selitskaya noted that the register covers four categories of products: buses, trucks, machine tools, microelectronics. Belarusian Ministry of Industry and Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade are working to expand the list.

“In the future, the register may feature not only industrial goods, but also, for example, products manufactured by Bellegprom and Belneftekhim enterprises. We are working to expand the list in 2027,” she added. “Each category needs its own criteria for inclusion in the register. Meeting these requirements will be the main condition for manufacturers who want to introduce their products as Union State goods.”
