Lukashenko: Belarus will keep supporting large families

VERKHNEDVINSK DISTRICT ( BelTA) – Belarus will continue to pursue a policy of supporting large families, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the residents of the urban settlement of Osveya during his working trip to Verkhnedvinsk District on 15 October, BelTA has learned.

“I am not taking [off myself] responsibility for a third child. True, there is now a flood of letters: ‘Alexander Grigoryevich, you promised, and I have three’. Well, we are helping. Some had three at once. These are isolated cases – a few dozen. We gave them housing. To carry and give birth to three – that is no easy thing.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the state also helps other large families with housing. “We would still have given an apartment to those with three children. We no longer even have a queue of large families [for housing] – they receive it within a year. When was there such a thing? There never was. And we are not a rich country. But I am doing this for you, for the children. We will not abandon this policy,” the head of state said.
