MINSK ( BelTA) – Artificial intelligence requires responsible application, in compliance with the law and with the protection of citizens’ rights, Sergei Sivets, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Belarus, said at the international IT-Akademgrad forum Artificial Intelligence in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“This forum, bringing together science, education and business, creates a unique platform for dialogue on the technologies that are setting the vector of society’s development. New digital technologies are used ever more widely in public administration, healthcare, the economy, education and other sectors, and therefore require careful legal reflection. For the Constitutional Court, particular interest lies in the issues of legal and ethical regulation of artificial intelligence, including guarantees for the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms in the context of digital transformation, ensuring a balance between innovation and traditional values, and forming reliable legal mechanisms that exclude discrimination and arbitrariness in the use of AI systems,” Sergei Sivets said.

He stressed the importance of ensuring that the deployment of such systems serves people and society, contributes to the realization of rights and freedoms, does not substitute for the responsibility of bodies and officials, and is accompanied by proper guarantees of legality and security and the protection of personal data. “I am convinced that the exchange of views at the forum will make it possible to develop balanced approaches not only in the creation and development of artificial intelligence technologies, but also in their regulatory support and responsible application, taking into account international experience and national priorities,” the chairman of the Constitutional Court said.

The international IT-Akademgrad forum Artificial Intelligence in Belarus has brought together leading scientists, engineers and representatives of business and education to discuss key trends and prospects for the development of artificial intelligence technologies. It is a platform for presenting domestic developments, exchanging experience and finding new partners in AI and robotics.
