MINSK (
BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin met with Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang during his working visit to Tajikistan on 19 October, BelTA has learned.
In three months, Belarus and China will mark a significant date – the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations. “Over this time, the two countries have formed a strategic partnership, established a trusting political dialogue, developed and expanded economic ties, and organized regional and humanitarian cooperation. Most importantly, China is perceived in Belarus today as a true friend, an example in state-building and responsible conduct on the international stage. We hope that our Chinese friends also see our sincere attitude at a time when there are many in the world who seek to drive a wedge into Belarusian-Chinese partnership,” Aleksandr Turchin said.
In his words, the long-awaited visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Belarus in the anniversary year will be a vivid marker of the relationship between the two countries. “The president of Belarus is ready to offer his dear friend the highest level of hospitality. The leaders of the two countries have set the task of filling the partnership with concrete practical and substantive content. This is a matter of responsibility and a direct duty of the governments of the two countries. I would like to thank the Chinese side for the constructive holding of the meeting of the commission on trade and economic cooperation in Beijing on 14 October. I know that the talks between the relevant agencies were intensive and substantive,” the prime minister emphasized.
