Belarus’ transport ministry explains new register of freight forwarders
23.10.2026
MINSK (
BelTA) – Olga Mikheichik, Head of the Directorate for Strategic Development and International Cooperation of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry, explained what the register of freight forwarders is, how it will work and what can lead to removal from it, BelTA has learned.
The unified register of freight forwarders is a state information resource containing data on freight forwarders registered in Belarus. It will include basic information on legal entities and individual entrepreneurs – name, contact details, taxpayer identification number and other data.
“In drafting the decree, a draft resolution of the Council of Ministers was prepared that determines the procedure for forming and maintaining the register. The document is currently undergoing approval by state bodies, after which it will be submitted to the government in the prescribed manner. It is important to stress that from 1 September 2027, the presence of information about a forwarder in the register becomes a mandatory requirement. Without entering this information in the register, the conduct of freight forwarding activity is prohibited,” Olga Mikheichik said.
In the event of removal from the register, this will be preceded by a mechanism of suspension from the register. According to the expert, this is an extreme measure of responsibility for gross violation of legislation.
According to state statistical reporting, in 2025 almost 1,700 economic entities, as well as around 1,900 individual entrepreneurs, provided freight forwarding services.
“Inclusion in the register is available to all economic entities that fully meet the organizational and technical requirements established by law. For most steadily operating freight forwarding companies, the procedure will become a standard confirmation of their legal status,” the head of the directorate stressed.
The obligation to register in the unified register of freight forwarders applies only to legal entities and individual entrepreneurs engaged in freight forwarding activity.
