MINSK (
BelTA) – The strategic goal of the five-year planэs priority National Demographic Security is to promote the value of large families and a healthy lifestyle, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Aleksei Zubovich said as he presented the preliminary results of Belarus’ social and economic development program for 2026–2030 in the current year to delegates of the Belarusian People’s Congress at the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry.
The deputy minister placed particular emphasis on the work done to overcome the demographic security challenges that developed countries around the world face to one degree or another. The problem is being addressed in the current five-year period through three tasks: increasing the number of births, raising life expectancy and reducing mortality.
“We continue to support large families: in 2026 the size of family capital grew to Br35,500, and 5,900 new accounts were opened. Monthly childcare benefits are also increasing. Tax, labor, housing and other support measures are maintained in full. The state has also taken a step towards those who cannot experience the joy of fatherhood and motherhood on their own: the possibilities for using IVF have been expanded, thanks to which 604 little Belarusians have already been born. To raise the prestige of the institution of marriage, motivation by example is no less important. This year, competitions, festivals and forums were held in all regions of the country to promote the stories of parents who successfully combine work and raising children. And this PR campaign is also producing results. According to surveys of the National Academy of Sciences, the importance of family in the hierarchy of values has grown over the year,” Aleksei Zubovich noted.
The key components of active longevity are accessible medical care and a healthy lifestyle. The state responds to these needs by investing significant funds in developing infrastructure locally. New polyclinics and hospitals are opening in the regions, and the network of sports facilities is expanding. “This means that our people have more opportunities to stay in good physical shape and, if necessary, to receive fast and safe treatment,” the deputy minister concluded.
