Call on Belarusians to contribute to common national goal

VETKA ( BelTA) – Everyone in their place must do everything in their power to save the country, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a conference with Gomel Oblast officials, BelTA has learned.

Although the meeting in the Vetka District Executive Committee was about the development of Gomel Oblast, it, in fact, turned out to be important for the whole country. At the beginning of the week, the president also visited Grodno and, after examining the situation in these two regions, the head of state announced a program of action for the entire vertical of power.

"I urge everyone to get their act together. Especially those in Gomel Oblast. This is practically a frontline region," the president emphasized. “We need to save the country. This is not only and not so much what I need. You need it. We can save it only if we step up and solve the problems. Listen, I am not calling to overstretch ourselves. It is just that everyone must do their job and the results will follow. We need to pick up pace."

"There's a war going on. NATO is expanding, and so on. Things are not easy for us. I'm focused on nuclear weapons for a reason. We need to protect the country so that they are afraid to look in our direction. Otherwise, we will again be living under someone's boot. I want you to heed this message. This is not an escalation of the situation. It is bad as it is," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The head of state noted that citizens of neighboring countries gladly visit Belarus. "Now they have closed the border: concreted, mined it. You can neither drive or walk it. But that's their problem. They don't let people in here anymore. Poles and Lithuanians are closing checkpoints, creating problems, first of all, for their people, so that they do not come to visit us. Because, upon returning they say: ‘Why don't we live peacefully with Belarusians?'”

"So let's brace up. Let's do whatever we can, wherever we can. I hope that by the end of the year we will have a good conversation and discuss positive results. I would very much to see Gomel Oblast strong. Please, get your act together," the Belarusian leader concluded.
