CIS heads of government sign package of documents

BelTA) – The heads of government of the CIS member states signed a package of documents on cooperation in Sochi, BelTA has learned.
At today's meeting in Sochi the CIS Heads of Government Council examined all the items on the agenda and adopted 17 documents. In particular, the heads of government signed an agreement on free trade in services and investment.
One of the main topics of discussion was industrial cooperation between the CIS member states. The parties adopted a corresponding concept and a set of measures to it for the period up to 2030. "The goals of the concept are to set up new high-tech industries, to fast-track development and modernization of the manufacturing sector in the CIS countries and its technological renewal, to increase production and export of competitive, innovative and high-tech products with a high share of added value, and to achieve international standards for product quality, to create new jobs, improve the welfare and quality of life," the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said.
The set of measures to the concept is a mechanism to implement the concept and to advance industrial cooperation through the relevant industrial policy of the CIS states.
The heads of government also signed an agreement on cooperation in the exchange of radiation monitoring data. "Such cooperation will make it possible to respond quickly to changes in the radiation situation in the CIS and ensure timely informing of neighboring states in the event of a threat or occurrence of transboundary transfer and spread of radioactive substances on the territory of the CIS countries, including from third states," the press service of the CIS Executive Committee noted.
The meeting participants approved an agreement on cooperation in documenting persons subject to forced expulsion with return certificates and adopted amendments to the agreement of 20 November 2009 on the rules of determining the country of origin of goods in the CIS.
A memorandum on cooperation in combating fraud in telecommunication networks was signed. “The document provides for the tightening of administrative and criminal responsibility for such crimes, cooperation and exchange of positive experiences on the mechanisms used to prevent them, creating conditions for the sustainable functioning and effective development of the international telecommunications market in the interests of end users and protection of economic interests of telecommunications operators, harmonization of national legislation to ensure security in telecommunications networks,” the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said.
The CIS heads of government adopted an action plan to implement an agreement on cooperation in electronic and electrical waste management for the period of up to 2030.
They also decided to hold CIS sport events among children with disabilities on a regular basis. Such events will be held once every four years, separately in winter and summer sports. The first winter sport event is suggested to take place in 2024 and the first summer sport event – in 2026.
The CIS Heads of Government Council decided to declare Tashkent (Uzbekistan) the CIS Youth Capital in 2024, Gabala (Azerbaijan) in 2025, and Kapan (Armenia) in 2026.
The Council also reviewed the financial support of the CIS bodies and made a number of appointments. The heads of government approved Dauren Abaev (Kazakhstan) as CIS Deputy Secretary General, Sergei Zubkov (Belarus) as Deputy Head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, and extended the term of office of Deputy Head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center Aibek Kutmanov (Kyrgyzstan).
